This is an edited transcript of an interview conducted by RTE on Friday, 25 January 2017, in which RTE’s TV presenter Andrew Byrne asks actor and producer Andrew Davies how he became a horror film star.
You are not the first horror film actor to be asked about this question.
When I was young I thought I’d be a detective.
I had no clue what I was doing.
I was a very young actor, very inexperienced, and I did what I had to do to get my acting career going.
And I’m lucky enough to be on the BBC, so I have an audience of millions of people.
But I’m not very good at it.
I’ve never really got into acting.
I guess that was the thing about me; I’m quite a bad actor.
I’m good at acting, but I’m really not good at the job.
But if I had done a really good job, I wouldn’t have had to start doing this.
You just need a bit of luck.
But the truth is, I’m a good actor and I’m very good looking.
And that’s what makes me so attractive.
I think that’s the key.
And the thing is, if you’re a really talented actor, if I think you’re good looking, if my wife thinks you’re very good-looking, if someone thinks you are really good-looked, I’ll put my money where my mouth is.
And they’ll be delighted with the results.
But to be honest, I just think you can be a bit bit of a flapper, a bit flamboyant, if your life is doing something that people think you should do.
If you’re going to do something like that, you’ve got to have a certain kind of life.
And my life has been quite the opposite, which is, you know, I’ve got nothing else to do, I have no money, I don’t have a girlfriend, I live alone.
And all that stuff, when I got to England, I had everything going for me.
I went to the National Theatre and I was very successful, so it was a great career move for me, but it didn’t go down very well with my wife, who was quite disappointed.
So she was very upset and it was quite a big thing for her to have to go through with it.
So it was really a very difficult time for me as far as her.
It was a bit like having to go on holiday with your family in Europe.
I didn’t really want to go there, and she didn’t want me there either.
And then when I went there she was so angry, and her anger was so great that she just got a lot of letters from people who thought she was just crazy.
I’d never met her before and it just got very personal.
But it’s something that I can never go back to now.
And when I was going there, I was actually getting paid very handsomely for it.
You have to remember, I hadn’t really done much of anything for the past four years.
So I was working as a school teacher. So, I didn
